Las dos Fridas (Frida Kahlo inspired accessories)
Hola chicos y chicas :)
Questa settimana faccio una breve pausa dalla serie dedicata alle icone del XX° secolo e ritorno alla mia musa indiscussa Frida Kahlo (che ovviamente è già stata protagonista anche della suddetta serie, se volete vedere gli accessori in questione vi rimando al mio post del 6 Marzo che trovate qui).
Il fatto è che non riesco a creare nuovi bijoux senza indulgere in un momento Frida, lei è sempre in cima alla mia lista, spero perdonerete questa mia ossessione!

This week I'm taking a short break from the "Iconic figures of the 20th century" accessories serie and I get back to my uncontested muse: Frida Kahlo (who by the way has already been part of the above mentioned serie; if you wish to check the accessories I made back then check my post from 06/03/13, you can find it here).
Apparently I can't work on new projects without indulging into some Frida; when I'm programming new accessories she is always on the top of the list, I hope you will excuse my obsession!
Fra tutte le opere di Frida la mia preferita è senza dubbio "Las Dos Fridas", è evocativa, toccante, profonda ed i colori sono semplicemente splendidi.
Ho quindi deciso di dedicare ben due parure a quest'opera.
Among all Frida's works my favourite one is "Las Dos Fridas", it's evocative, touching, deep and the colors are simply amazing.
So I decided to dedicate two parures to this masterpiece.
La prima parure è composta da anello, orecchini e spilla; ho realizzato l'anello utilizzando una grande base ovale (40x30mm) in bronzo anticato con copertura in vetro bombato.
All'interno ho inserito una delle due Frida in modo che si possa abbinare alla spilla che riprende la stessa forma e lo stesso materiale.
The first parure is made of ring, earrings and brooch; I used a big oval (40x30mm) vintage copper base with domed glass cover to create the ring.
I placed inside one of the two Fridas from the artwork so that it perfectly matches the brooch which has the same shape and material.
La spilla segue la stessa linea dell'anello e contiene l'altra metà del quadro.
The brooch follows the same line of the ring and displays the other half of the painting.
Per gli orecchini ho scelto una montatura tonda in bronzo anticato con chiusura alla francese e copertura in vetro bombato.
Le due Frida occupano ognuna la propria montatura.
For the earrings I chose a round vintage copper base with domed glass cover and french hooks.
The two Fridas are placed one per each base.
La seconda parure è composta da collana e orecchini.
Per la collana ho scelto un grande pendente ovale color argento, abbinato ad una catenina leggera ed un charm ispirato agli sugar skulls messicani del giorno dei morti.
The second parure is made of necklace and earrings.
For the necklace I chose a big oval vintage silver pendant, matched with a light chain and a charm inspired by the mexican day od the deaths.
Ho seguito la stessa linea per gli orecchini che sfoggiano le due Frida all'interno di pendenti tondi in argento anticato, abbinati a charms a forma di sugar skulls.
I followed the same line for the earrings, which display the two Fridas on some round vintage silver pendants matched with sugar skulls charms.
