Birthday weekend in London, a random vlog - Weekend di compleanno a Londra, un vlog random
Londra è la città che più amo al mondo, credo che non sia un segreto per nessuno, così come non è un mistero il fatto che io sia ossessionata da Frida Kahlo; perciò quando, in modo assolutamente casuale, si è prospettata la possibilità di trascorrere il weekend del mio compleanno in città, visitando tra le altre cose anche la mostra di Frida al Victoria & Albert Museum non ho saputo resistere alla tentazione.
Così, dopo aver organizzato la trasferta in poco più di una settimana, io e la mia amica Eleonora siamo partite cariche di entusiasmo e di progetti.E' stato un viaggio intenso sotto molti punti di vista. Intenso fisicamente perchè nei 3 giorni trascorsi in città ci siamo fermate pochissimo, percorrendo km su km, intenso emotivamente perchè Londra ogni volta mi rapisce il cuore e la mostra ha saputo toccare corde dell'anima molto profonde.
Insomma è stato un gran viaggio e non potevo non documentarlo con un vlog, ma andiamo per gradi.
It's no secret that London is the city I love the most in the whole world, just as it's no secret that I'm obsessed with Frida Kahlo; so when - totally out of the blue - I had the opportunity to spend my birthday weekend in the city visiting the Frida exhibition at Victoria & Albert museum, I knew I had to go.
After we quickly organized the trip, my friend Eleonora and I left filled with excitement and plans.
It has been an intense trip, both phisically, as in the 3 days we walked miles and miles rarely taking a break, and emotionally because London has always something new and special in store and the exhibition was deeply moving.
All in all it has been an amazing trip and I had to document it through a vlog, but let's start from the beginning.
L'aereo doveva ancora decollare e noi già pregustavamo le giornate a venire, progettando percorsi, valutando opzioni e cercando di inserire quante più tappe possibili.
Il bello di viaggiare con qualcuno mosso dalle tue stesse ossessioni e che non c'è limite alle idee bizzarre e se ci sono due cose che accomunano me ed Eleonora sono l'amore per lo shopping e la venerazione per Frida, un'accoppiata molto pericolosa 😂.
Il treno che collega l'aereporto di Stanstead a Londra ci ha scaricate alla stazione di Liverpool Street ed ho subito avuto una rivelazione: solo qualche metro ci separava dal mercato di Spitalfield, che per ragioni logistiche non avevamo progettato di visitare. E' bastato uno sguardo e senza indugi ci siamo buttate nella mischia, con valigie al seguito.
Questo vi dà il metro di come è andata questa mini vacanza 😂.
Credo di aver battuto tutti i miei record personali di acquisto, perchè a meno di mezz'ora dall'arrivo avevo già fatto compere, nella foto ci vedete con i nostri nuovi cappelli molto british in compagnia del venditore 😁
The plane had still to take off and we were already planning the days to come, trying to squeeze in as many pplace as possible.
Travelling with someone with your same obsessions makes the opportunites endless and I must say that Eleonora and I share the same obsession for shopping and Frida Kahlo, a dangerous mix indeed 😂.
The train that connects Stanstead airport to the city left us in Liverpool Street station and right there I had my first revelation: Spitalfield market (which we didn't plan to visit for logistic reasons) was just a few steps away. In less than a second we decided to take the opportunity and we jumped into the market while still carrying our luggages. This gives you an idea of how our mini holiday went 😂.
I think I broke all my personal shopping records , in less than half an hour I had already bought something, in the picture you can see the both of us with our new hats and the very british seller 😁
Il resto della giornata lo abbiamo trascorso fra i negozi di Oxford Street, già sfavillante di addobbi natalizi, concludendo con una piacevole cena in compagnia della nostra amica Lis in un gastropub di Knightsbridge. Come inizio non c'è male direi 😊
We spent the rest of the day roaming around shops in Oxford Street, all shiny in Christmas decorations, ending it with a lovely dinner with our friend Lis in a gastro pub in Knightsbridge. Not bad as a start 😊
Il giorno del mio compleanno è iniziato con due ore di coda al Victoria & Albert Museum, il clou del viaggio doveva essere la visita alla mostra di Frida e l'unico modo per essere sicure di accaparrarci i pochi biglietti rimasti era mettersi in coda. La foto qui sotto vi dà un'idea della situazione coda alle otto del mattino 😱
My birthday started with us queueing for 2 hours in front of the Victoria & Albert Museum, the focus of the trip was the Frida Kahlo exhibition and the only way to be sure we could find some tickets was to get in the line on time. In the picture here below you get an idea of the queue at 8 a.m. 😱
La levataccia ha dato i suoi buoni frutti perchè alle 10.10 avevamo i nostri biglietti prenotati per le 4 del pomeriggio e tutta una giornata davanti. La nostra prima meta sono stati i grandi magazzini di Harrods (che caso vuole si trovano a pochi passi dal museo) e poi dritti verso Carnaby Street ed il centro pulsante della città.
Le ore sono volate senza che ci fermassimo un minuto ed in me che non si dica era tempo di tornare alla tanto agognata mostra che è stato indimenticabile e molto intensa.
Il tempo di riprendere il fiato per un'oretta ed eravamo già dirette verso la cena turca, prenotata da Lis, in zona Covent Graden, con tanto di intrattenimento musicale.
Tra un piatto di Falafel ed una canzone cantata a squarcia gola ho passato uno dei compleanni più strani e divertenti della mia vita, chiudendo così anche il secondo giorno di viaggio.
The early start paid off, at 10.10 a.m. we had our tickets ready and a visit planned for 4 p.m. + a whole day ahead.
We went straight to Harrods, which happened to be next to the Museum and then straight to Carnaby Street and the city center. The hours went by quickly and in a blink of an eye it was time to get back to the museum to enjoy one of the most intense and touching Frida exhibition I had ever seen.
One hour rest and we were back on the move, heading to the turkish dinner that Lis booked on the Covent garden area, with musical entretainment included.
it has been one of the weirdest and most fun birthday of my life and that's how the secon day ended.
Il nostro terzo ed ultimo giorno è iniziato con la pioggia che scrosciava sui tettii di Londra, ma nulla poteva fermarci, così dopo aver lasciato le valigie in reception ci siamo fiondate a Camden market dove abbiamo trascorso tutta la mattinata, curiosando tra le bancarelle.
Le tre birrette a stomaco vuoto del pub the Hawley arms forse non sono state una grande idea, ma le chiacchiere e le risate ne sono valse la pena.
Le ultime ore le abbiamo strascorse tra Covent Gardenm China Town e Piccadilly Circus, cercando di inserire tappe fino all'ultimo secondo, trascinandoci senza sosta per godere di ogni attimo che avevamo a disposizione.
Ora vi lascio al mio vlog, nel quale credo che traspaia l'entusiasmo e la follia di questi tre giorni fatti di parole, risate, emozioni, passi, insomma 3 giorni da ricordare.
Our third and last day started with pouring rain on the rooftops, but nothing could stop us, so after we left our luggages at the reception we headed straight to Camden market, where we spent all of the morning, roaming around the stalls.
The 3 beers we drank on an empty stomach in the Hawley Arms pub were probably not a good idea, but the chats and laughs were totally worth it.
We spent the last hours between Covent Garden, China Town and Piccadilly Circus, trying to savour as much of the city as we could, squeezing in new stops until the last moment available.
Now I leave you to my vlog, which reflects the craziness and excitemenf of these 3 days filled with chats, laughs, emotions, steps, e days to remember indeed.

Friday November 9th - Venerdì 9 Novembre
L'aereo doveva ancora decollare e noi già pregustavamo le giornate a venire, progettando percorsi, valutando opzioni e cercando di inserire quante più tappe possibili.
Il bello di viaggiare con qualcuno mosso dalle tue stesse ossessioni e che non c'è limite alle idee bizzarre e se ci sono due cose che accomunano me ed Eleonora sono l'amore per lo shopping e la venerazione per Frida, un'accoppiata molto pericolosa 😂.

Il giorno del mio compleanno è iniziato con due ore di coda al Victoria & Albert Museum, il clou del viaggio doveva essere la visita alla mostra di Frida e l'unico modo per essere sicure di accaparrarci i pochi biglietti rimasti era mettersi in coda.
