Mexican travel vlog/diary part 3 (Cuzamà and Merida)

Ciao a tutti e benvenuti alla terza parte del diario di viaggio dal Messico, nel post di oggi ammireremo l'alba sulla laguna, sobbalzeremo su un carro ferroviario trainato da un cavallo per raggiungere i Cenotes di Cuzamà e visiteremo la splendida città coloniale di Merida!

Hi and welcome to the third part of the mexican travel diary, in today's post we will look at the dawn on the lagoon, hichup on a cart pulled by a horse to reach the Cuzamà cenotes and visit the amazing colonail city of Merida!

Fra gli aspetti positivi del jet leg c'è quello di svegliarsi alle 6 della mattina e trovarsi di fronte il sole che sorge sulla laugna colorando il cielo di un rosa delicato. Un'altra visione che difficilmente dimenticherò.
Dopo una veloce colazione siamo pronti a ripartire per la nostra prossima meta: i cenotes di Cuzamà.
Situati nel folto della foresta i cenotes sotterranei di Cazamà sono fra i più pittoreschi dello Yucatan. Per raggiungerli si percorre un tragitto di 40 minuti su un carro ferroviario trainato da un cavallo, un'avventura fatta di sobbalzi e galoppate!
Va detto che nuotare nell'acqua cristallina di una pozza sotterranea illuminata da un fascio di luce che penetra dal soffitto è decisamente un'esperienza che vale il percorso accidentato stile vecchio west.
Purtroppo il viaggio verso la prossima tappa (Merida) sarà altrettanto dissestato a causa del navigatore in dotazione che oltre ad avermi insegnato un po' di spagnolo ci ha portato su strade non asfaltate nel ezzo del nulla per poi farci sbucare e perdere per ore nei sobborghi di Merida.
Siamo riusciti a raggiungere il nostro hotel solo chidendo ad un taxista di farci strada! Stravolti decidiamo di non toccare la macchina per tutto il prossimo giorno che dedicheremo a visitare la città.

Waking up at 6 a.m. (one of the few positive sides of the jet leg) and looking at the dawn on the lagoon was simply wonderfull, the rising sun coloured in a soft pink the whole sky, another view I will never forget!
After a quick breakfast we are ready to leave for our next destination: the Cuzamà cenotes.
Located in the deep of the forest the underground sinkhole of Cuzamà are among the most picturesqua of the whole Yucatan. In oirder to reach them you have to face a 40 minutes trail on a cart pulled by a horse, a a pitching and gallopping adventure!
It is ti be said that swimming in the clear water of an underground sinkhole enlightened by a ray of light through the celing is a unique experience worth the troubled old west style journey!
Unfortunately the travel to our next stop (Merida) will be as much troubled due to the supplied navigator which taughed a bit of spanish but also led us through non paved roads in the middle of nowhere just to bring us in the suburbs of Merida and get definitely lost in there.
We managed to reach our hotel only by asking a taxi driver tio show us the way!
Exhausted we decide not to use the car for the next day which we will spend visitin the city.

Merida è una città dal sapore coloniale, piena di splendidi edifici, ristoranti, negozi e con un grande parco centrale. Trascorriamo l'intera giornata lontani dall'auto, perdendoci fra le sue vie, i suoi palazzi ed i suoi mercati.

Merida is a lovely colonial city, full of amazing buildings, restaurants, shops, markets and a big central park. We spend the whole day far away from the car getting lost in its streets, palaces and markets.
