Visiting Sevilla - Siviglia! Days 1 & 2 (Semana Santa, Catedral, Metropol parasol, flamenco, ecc.)

Se mi seguite su Instagram saprete che io e Daniele abbiamo trascorso il weekend di Pasqua a Siviglia e anche questa volta abbiamo documentato il nostro viaggio, portandovi con noi per le strade della città durante la semana santa.

If you follow me on Instagram you'll know that Daniele and I spent the Easter weekend in Sevilla and, once again, we documented our trip bringing you along while visiting the city during the Semana Santa.

Visitare Siviglia durante la semana santa è un'esperienza indimenticabile, folklore e religione si mischiano in una celebrazione che comincia la domenica delle palme e termina la domenica di Pasqua.
Migliaia di persone affollano i vicoli e le piazze del centro seguendo le processioni delle 60 confraternite che si alternano fino a tarda notte; cortei imponenti composti da centinaia di partecipanti, molti dei quali indossano l'abito di Nazareno con il tipico copricapo a punta, trasportando a spalla enormi statue raffiguranti la passione di Cristo, l'incenso e la musica che riempiono l'aria.
Visiting Sevilla during the semana santa is an unforgettable experience, folklore and religion mix in a celebration that starts on palm Sunday and end on Easter day. Thousends of people crowd the alleys and the sqaures following the 60 brotherhoods processions that last until late at night; massive parades with hundreds of participants, many of which dressed in a habit with the distinctive pointed hood, carrying huge statues portraying the passion of Christ, while incense and music fill the air.
Noi girovaghiamo per i vicoli del centro che si aprono su piazzette inaspettate e cortili con fontane, beviamo sangria e mangiamo deliziose tapas, godendoci la nostra prima giornata in città fino a che non crolliamo stravolti.
We stroll around the tiny alleys that open into lovely squares and yards with cute fountains, we drink sangria and eat delicious tapas enjoying our first day in town, until we are too tired to keep going.
La nostra seconda giornata comincia con la visita alla Cattedrale di Santa Maria della sede, la più grande cattedrale gotica del mondo, costruita sui resti della moschea Alijama, che si estende per ben 11.000 metri quadrati.
Our second day starts with a visit to the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See, the biggest gothic cathedral in the world, built on the remains of the Alijama Mosquee, that covers a surface of 10.000 squared meters.
Imperdibile è anche la visita al Metropol Parasol, un' imponente struttura in legno, unica nel suo genere, che si estende su Plaza de la incarnacion, fornendo una vista spettacolare sulla città.
Since 2011 another important landmark is the Metropol Parasol, a massive and unique wooden structure that covers Plaza de la incarnation, offering a breathtaking view over the city.
La nostra seconda giornata termina con uno spettacolo di flamenco alla Casa de la memoria ed una cena a base di tapas e sangria.
Our second day ends with a flamenco show at the Casa de la Memoria and a dinner with tapas and sangria.
